| that I could do and be anything that wanted. I was on a swim team, both diving and swimming, I camp ,backpack, canoe, and kayak, things that black folks allegedly don’t do. Sometimes, when I speak to young black people, I realize how often we place artificial limits on our horizons which only limits our growth as individuals. People would be suprised at the number of black people who do things that black people don’t do. In fact years ago, I helped organize a group of black men and women to do those things, i.e., things that black people do not do. |
