| As pointed out by others, there’s nothing we can do to take away the ability of those who would want to stage an imitation of the temple endowment, so that leaves wondering what we could do to reduce their desire to do so. I wonder if we arouse curosity in the temple inappropriately, for instance, by showcasing sealing of families as a reason people should be interested in becoming Latter-day Saints. There is nothing in the temple of any value unless a person is already a disciple of Christ. Becoming a baptized disciple is a grand enough project, and I think we diminish regard for it if we treat it only as a stepping stone toward entering the temple. |
