My dad worked for a large construction company, doing estimates for bids on the various projects. As a kid, I would go with him to work (not TYCTWD, but during the summer), and each time, I would update my drawing of the “Estimating Machine”. He would frame them and hang them up on his office wall. And I specifically remember one day, I was about 5 years old (so this was about 1980), and I sang along to “Morning Train” by Sheena Easton on the radio as my dad drove. My love of singing in the car during my commute is still going strong. The estimating…not so much. |
